WIN offers a range of services to the Gladstone Community while also advocating for improved changes in relation to social integration, cross cultural communication and community cohesion policies and procedures within the three levels of Government. Some of these services include information sessions, consultancy, referrals, advice and support, networking, community awareness, events planning and promotion, advocacy, training and more.
WIN provides new residents with the right resources to help learn about their new community, connect with others and integrate confidently into the Gladstone Region.
WIN facilitates a number of programs for children, parents and carers. From Playgroups to evidence based parenting programs for the whole family to strengthen children development and family wellbeing
WIN offers a variety of language services to suit your needs – whether you are looking to practice your English language skills in a casual setting, or would like to learn another language in a more formal classroom environment.
WIN facilitates accredited and non accredited training courses for anyone in the community who wishes to develop their skills for work or for personal development. WIN also works with partner Registered Training Providers (RTO) to provide training programs for local jobseekers.
The Gladstone Youth for Cultural Diversity is WIN’s vibrant and fun youth group. It welcomes all young people from all cultures and backgrounds to come together in a range of activities, events and cultural awareness projects.
Collaborative Project
The Gladstone Linked project is a collaborative initiative delivered by the Gladstone Intercultural Reference Group (IRG) with the primary focus of making community connections across all sectors in our Region including new residents to our Region, local community members and service providers. The Gladstone Linked project was born from the IRG’s shared commitment to welcoming our growing diverse community to our Region.

The ‘Integration Through Volunteering’ program will assist the immersion of recently arrived CALD youth and women in matters of Australian culture, language, costumes and responsibilities. This immersion will be facilitated by their engagement in volunteering activities in mainstream and local community groups and organisations. We have online learning resources as well as a Network of community partners – the Be Connected Network – who offer in-person support so you can develop your digital skills and confidence. Find a local place for friendly help and advice, or join the Network to help others.

WIN is a network partner of Be Connected program. An Australia wide initiative empowering all Australians to thrive in a digital world.
We have learning resources available online at https://beconnected.esafety.gov.au/ which can be accessed using our free internet and computer facilities at the Gladstone Inclusion Centre – 1 Manning Street with the assistance of a Be Connected Mentor/Tutor. Feel free to bring your own device.
This is a FREE event every Monday, come in anytime between 9:30am – 12:30pm. Includes tea, coffee and WIFI.

The cafe sees many cultures interacting in a safe and neutral environment (local Library) while developing language skills for those from a non-English background. In addition, the space is ideal to foster new friendships and facilitate information in order for new residents to be able to access services and feel welcomed in their new community.
The Language Café meets every second Tuesday of each month from 9:30am to 11:30 at the Gladstone Regional Library in Goondoon Street.

Basic computer skills class goes over an introduction to computers along with working in Microsoft Word (Word processing) and Excel (spreadsheets). Intermediate computer skills class covers extended information and skills in Word and Excel.

Spanish Level 1 & 2 classes are for the beginner or intermediate student to learn and understand everyday expressions of the Spanish language. Students will learn to introduce him/herself, answer questions and interact in a simple way regarding regular matters encountered in work, school or leisure.

Conversational English class held once/week for people from CALD backgrounds looking to improve their conversational skills in English. Students will discuss a variety of topics, including perseverance, harmony and intercultural awareness and get opportunities to converse with other locals of the Gladstone community.
Conversational English class meets on Wednesday afternoons 12:30 – 2pm or Thursday evenings 5:30 – 7:00pm during the school term (8 weeks) at the Gladstone Inclusion Centre – 1 Manning Street.

The 1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching program aims to teach parents how to deal with their children’s difficult behaviour by using an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use signalling system to manage children’s difficult behaviour. The signalling system requires the parent to use less talk and less emotion, which in turn encourages the development of children’s ability to manage their emotional reactions to parental boundaries (or emotional competency).

The Multicultural Playgroup provides opportunities for parents to meet and share experiences from different cultures while their babies/children play and develop social skills. Relevant and needs based information sessions form part of the playgroup sessions where service providers are invited to present and discuss family’s needs directly with all participants.

Gladstone Youth for Cultural Diversity group’s mission is to raise cultural awareness and mutual understanding in Gladstone community by encouraging young people to get involved in matters of cultural diversity and by providing a supportive platform to spread positive messages about cultural differences.
The Gladstone Youth for Cultural Diversity meets every second Friday of each month from 3.30pm to 5pm at the Gladstone Inclusion Centre – 1 Manning St, South Gladstone
